Wii Fit Plus? はい!

Have you heard? Have you tried?

I already know what you’re thinking. “Wii Fit Plus? Hulahoops and balancing games? That’s not a real workout. Nobody loses weight with that toy.”

Yeah. When I noticed my significant weight gain and couldn’t wear my favorite jeans & t-shirts, I announced my goal of weight-loss using WiiFitPlus. My family didn’t take me seriously at all. At first, it wasn’t working. I was spending 20mins a day and skipping days. Finding the discipline to commit was nearly impossible and nobody really supported it. Not family, not co-workers. But who can blame them really. Wii Fit Plus for serious weight-loss? This went on for months. The turning point was when I reached about 214lbs. I became aware of my stomach’s weight; I could feel it when I walked even when I hadn’t eaten yet. It was heavy and on its way to being something I’d have to lift up to reach my belt. At 33yrsold and 5′10″, this is when my “vtech just kicked in, yo!”. I was not going to let this happen any longer.

The next 5 months is what I’m going to talk about now.

This is for all the doubters and haters out there. This… right here, right now… is how to use WiiFitPlus in addition to an improved diet.

First, the workout.

I spend at least 45mins a day on WiiFitPlus. Usually 1 hr or more. WiiFitPlus allows a “My Routine”, a sort of playlist of exercises that you can start up and run through a series of Yoga & Aerobics that you pre-selected. All my routines are geared towards my core; torso & abs.

  • -Half Moon Pose-

  • -Chair Pose x 2-

  • -Torso Twists-

( Jackknife+SingleArmStand ) x 2

*Grounded V Pose

*Tree Pose

So, this is 20 mins. Continuing on...

  • 100 Jackknife challenge, 11 mins

    f:id:smtddr:20140221201327j:plain

  • Then I alternate days between 30min run, or 15mins freeboxing... on occasion I'll do both; one of them in the morning and the other when I get back home from work.

So that's about 45mis - 1hr.

Now for the diet. This is toughest part; nobody I know can do this except vegans.

  • No Smoking
  • No Alcohol, ever
  • No coffee
  • No energy-drinks
  • No soda
  • No beef
  • No pork
  • Nothing I suspect contains corn syrup.

Let’s talk about what this list means. Particularly the last 4. No soda, beef, pork or corn syrup. In North America, this eliminates fast-food & most junk-food. Not that I ever ate this stuff much before the diet, but now it’s completely gone - save for an occasional 1 doughnut a month.

My current routine is something like this:

  • Consume a raw garlic clove about twice to 3 times a week. Wash it down with water quick, because it burns.

  • 7am, protein bar then 1 hr’ish workout.

  • Then bottle of water.
  • Check my weight wearing only shorts. A digital scale that shows tenths.
  • small lunch. I eat salads and omelette.
  • 9pm - small bowl of organic cereal(no corn-syrup or preservatives). Rasin-bran usually.

Through-out the day and evening, I drink alot of water and snack on things like:

  • Organic-almonds(not salted or roasted).
  • Organic raw sprouted sesame seed cookies.
  • Organic ProBar Energy chews(not the caffiene ones). Ingredients- Organic Tapioca Syrup, Organic Sugar, Organic Tapioca Syrup Solids, Pectin, Citric Acid, Potassium Citrate, Natural Flavor, Organic Black Carrot Concentrate (Color Added), Ascorbic Acid, Organic Apple Powder, Organic Acai Powder, Organic Blueberry Powder, Organic Pomegranate Powder, Vitamin Blend (Vitamin B3, B6 and B12), Sea Salt, Organic Sunflower Oil, Carnauba Wax.

So, no more stuff like this:

And a nearly exclusive diet change to this:

f:id:smtddr:20140221204446p:plain

From a max of 214lbs, I’m now 184lbs. This was my 1st goal; my weight before marriage. I now plan to get down to 170lbs.

My weight hasn’t been 170lbs since about junior-college 1997′ish.

Co-workers impressed, family nearly speechless.

Wii Fit Plus works, don’t let anyone tell you different. Also, I’m sure my diet has more than alittle to do with the weight-loss. -^_^- Don’t think it’ll work for you if you keep eating junkfood.

I also do my best to reduce carb-intake. No rice & bread. Just lots of grilled chicken and steamed-veggies. No more fruit-juice(since it contains lots of sugar), unless I'm about to do a workout.

That’s it, bye-bye and stay healthy! -^_^-
